Cross Listed Sections I
#1 - Now that it's time to put in instructors for 10-day reporting purposes, you will need to add the instructor on all cross listed sections as well. In order to do this, you need to put an O(letter) in the Override field (just after the Primary check box). Instructors cannot see the cross listed sections in Web for Faculty unless they are listed as the instructor.
#2 - Just a reminder to always check the Cross List Definitions form (SSAXLST) when wanting to know enrollments for all cross listed sections and if students are encountering a CLOSED registration error. This form is maintained by our office so if the max enrollment needs to be increased (room capacity allowing) you will need to contact our office to make that change.
#3 - Another reminder to make sure that all cross listed sections are identical. This includes instructor, meeting times and location, notes, restrictions, etc. Because it doesn't shadow as it did in UI Direct, you have to make sure all changes are done manually. Again, this has to be done by the Controlling Unit for all cross listings.
#4 - In order to avoid typing errors when making changes to the meeting record of cross listed sections, you might want to use the Item Duplicate function. Here are the steps to better use this:
Type in CRN for first section; make the necessary changes on the meeting block and save.
From the meeting block, under the Options menu select the Cross Listed Definitions (SSAXLST); next block.
Click on the next CRN that needs changed, under Options select Course Section Information (SSASECT); next block twice to Meeting Time Block.
Under the Item menu, select Duplicate, next block, and double click on the CRN that you previously made the change to.
This will automatically save and take you back to the Meeting Time Block.
Click on the White X to go back to the SSAXLST form. Repeat with the next CRN if you need to.
